bRownson music
Compelling worship is one of our core values at Brownson Church. The Music Department is a key and essential part of that. Our music includes a variety of musical styles from classical, gospel, folk, and contemporary. Highlights include special concerts and glorious expressions of faith during Christmas and Easter. Past choral works include Mendelssohn’s “Elijah”, Vivaldi’s “Gloria”, Faure’s “Requiem”, Handel’s “Messiah”, “Godspell”, and Dubois’ “The Seven Last Words of Christ.”

Brownson Music has an “open door” philosophy and a variety of opportunities to participate in worship:
  • Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir participates in both Sunday services on Communion, Advent, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm in the choir room from September - June. A summer choir and small ensemble participate in summer services from June-August. An annual choir retreat is held in September where the choir participates in team building, vocal strengthening, and choral reading activities. The Chancel Choir has been a finalist in the “Best of the Pines.”
  • Small Ensemble
The small ensemble consists of 4-8 individuals leading worship through a smaller range of voices. The small ensemble leads worship through the summer services of June-August. The Small Ensemble also provides special music throughout the year.
  • Instrumentalists
A variety of instruments are used to accompany hymns, choral anthems, and solos throughout the year.
  • Hand Bell Choir
Brownson has a complete five-octave set of Schulmerich Hand Bells and Tone Chimes. The hand bell choir performs several times throughout the year. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 6:00 pm from September - June.
