Brownson has been blessed by those who have gone before us, but especially by those who not only supported the church through their annual stewardship pledge, but also left a lasting legacy through a gift from their estate.
Eighty years ago, Brownson members broke ground for our first sanctuary. Throughout the decades, bequests to our church’s endowment have enabled us to reach out in a way we could not otherwise afford to do. Those, like Bob Rannow, who have supported the Music Endowment, have made it possible for us to provide an exceptional music ministry. A portion of the Bill Jones bequest has allowed us every year to bring nationally known men and women to our pulpit. A recent bequest has underwritten the start-up costs for the new Learning Center. The proceeds from the general endowment fund have enabled us to offer help in times of crisis, to give new, un-budgeted programs a chance to get started, and to provide special opportunities to our members. It has been an important and creative element in our church life.
Up until now, we have had no formal way to recognize the generosity of those who contribute to our endowments. Eighty years after the earliest members shared in the joy of that first ground breaking, a Legacy Society has been formed to honor those who have given to the endowment and/or have included Brownson in their will. This group will offer us all an opportunity to make a statement of faith that endures beyond our lifetime and a chance to continue important ministries for generations to come.
We ask you to prayerfully consider becoming a part of the Legacy Society by making a planned gift. The enclosed brochure tells you more about the Legacy Society and how you can become a member. Help us do for future generations of this church what others have so generously done for us. Our endowment reminds us of the past with thanksgiving, provides new opportunities today, and lets us look to the future with confidence.
